The Nasrid Gardens: Alhambra, 2013, oil/panel, 40x40" (click to enlarge)
Moving forward I have taken the cascading branch of a flowering tree and enlarged the idea to 40" x 40". The painting was done in two main stages.  Initially the shapes and lines were executed very fast using large brushes and rags.  I allowed that monchromatic stage to dry before mapping in the blues and finally treated the flowers with a small brush.

The title is based on my travels last year to Spain.  I visited the Alhambra in Grenada along with several other amazing gardens in Sevilla's Real Alcazar and elsewhere.  Hopefully, there will be a series of these paintings in the next 6 months.
